I suspect the problem is with the ‘shitty beginning paragraph’.

If you’re not happy with it, how can you expect anyone else to be? It’s the fight between the ‘I want it to be good’ side of you and the ‘I want it to be done’ side.

What are you trying to say in the first paragraph? Forget the structure and grammar for a while and just get to what it is you’re trying to say. Say it aloud, as though you’re telling a friend. Say it again, and hopefully, the right words will come to you.

Works for me on occasion.
